Favorites - March 2016

March is already coming to a close. Can you believe that? While spring has officially arrived the weather, here in the windy city, hasn't gotten the message yet. If it's as dreary by you as it is by me maybe this post will help you brighten up your day. I loved so many products this month, and had such a hard time choosing which ones to share with you!

Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation in the shade 140 Ivoire 4 (N)

Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation in the shade 140 Ivoire 4 (N)

I have been struggling to find a foundation that doesn't make my skin appear even more dry than it is. My skin has changed quite a lot over the years. I went from dealing with oily and acne prone skin in my adolescence to now dealing with dry and slightly less acne prone skin in my early 20's. This foundation is on the pricey side at $47. That being said it has completely changed the way my skin looks. It is the Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation. I apply it by pressing it into my skin with the dampened Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. About 2 pumps of foundation does the trick. It feels light but covers all of my redness. I would consider it a medium coverage foundation, which is great if you want to cover redness and acne scars, but still let your freckles show through! My skin has not looked flaky since using this and it gives me a beautiful dewy finish.

 Smashbox Hydrating Photofinish Foundation Primer

Smashbox Hydrating Photofinish Foundation Primer

I am a big believer in using a foundation primer. The right primer can completely change the way your foundation sits on your skin. I am a fan of Smashbox primers, having used their Original Photofinish primer in the past. But the hydrating primer feels much lighter and more watery than their other primers. Unfortunately, it is slightly pricier than their other primers at $42. This has aided my foundation in keeping my skin looking and feeling healthy and hydrated, while also keeping my foundation in place all day. Until someone finds a less expensive dupe for this primer the price is worth it.

 Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit

If you've kept up with beauty bloggers and vloggers since Christmas time you're probably sick of hearing about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit. And while I'm not sure it's worth $80, I have been using it like crazy. All of the colors are gorgeous and very pigmented.

Other than the pigments themselves the packaging is absolutely beautiful. The case itself is gold and wonderfully reflective. The mirror inside, unlike many mirrors included in palettes, is crisp and clear. While this palette is completely unnecessary if you're looking to spend some birthday money this isn't a bad option. It makes you feel very luxurious.

Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara

Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes Mascara

On the much less expensive end of the spectrum at $4.49 is an oldie but a goodie. Maybelline has been making their Great Lash Mascara for a long time but now they have a new brush in their Great Lash- Lots of Lashes Mascara. The bristles are define and thin and the brush head itself is shaped like a tear drop. It keeps my lashes separated but makes them look naturally long and voluminous. And best of all this mascara doesn't smudge under my eyes leaving me looking like a racoon. This is proof there is no reason to buy an expensive mascara.

 Derma E Hydrating Night Crème

Derma E Hydrating Night Crème

As I've mentioned before I have been struggling with dry skin recently. And this heaven sent night crème by Derma E has been helping me with just that. It has hyaluronic acid in it which absorbs water making your skin feel and look plump and hydrated. It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave your skin feeling sticky. and best of all you can get it at the drug store for $25!

Crabtree and Evelyn Ultra- Moisturizing Hand Therapy in the scent Pomegranate

Crabtree and Evelyn Ultra- Moisturizing Hand Therapy in the scent Pomegranate

My friend Sarrah gave me a set of three of these Crabtree and Evelyn Ultra-Moisturizing Hand Therapy, hand creams for Christmas. I have already gone through two tubes. They smell great, feel great, and come in adorable packaging. What more can a girl ask for?

 Cadbury Mini Eggs

Cadbury Mini Eggs

And last, but definitely not least are my new found, and addictive Easter candy, Cadbury Mini Eggs. These are a classic for most people but somehow I had never had them before. I can't stop eating them. The chocolate is creamy and the crunch of the shell adds a punch of sweetness before your teeth sink into the chocolate. While the caramel filled Cadbury Eggs are great once a year they make you feel like your teeth are rotting because of how sugary they are. I definitely prefer these babies.

And that is all friends! I hope you enjoyed reading about all of my favorites this month and that April brings you a fresh start.
